FamilAI Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the FamilAI iOS application (“the App”). By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. You own your content
Anything you record, type, or upload in FamilAI — stories, transcripts, photos, family-tree data — belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of your content.
2. License you grant us
To provide the service, you grant FamilAI a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and display your content on your own devices and — if you use the optional cloud backend — on our servers. This license ends when you delete your content or your account.
3. Apple EULA
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and is subject to Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement, available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. Where these terms conflict with Apple’s EULA, Apple’s EULA prevails.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload illegal, hateful, or violent content.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer the App.
- Use the App to harass or impersonate any person.
- Use the App for any purpose that violates the law in your jurisdiction.
You are responsible for securing your device and your Apple ID. You are responsible for anything posted from your account.
5. Subscription billing
- FamilAI includes a free manual tier. AI-powered features require an auto-renewing subscription at €9.99 / month (price varies by storefront).
- FamilAI does not currently offer a free trial.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time in your Apple ID → Subscriptions settings.
- No refunds are issued by us for partial periods. Apple handles all refund requests under their policies.
6. AI-generated content disclaimer
FamilAI uses Claude by Anthropic PBC to analyze your stories, extract people and events, and generate follow-up questions. AI output may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or paraphrase liberally. The App is not a substitute for:
- Professional genealogy research.
- Medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice.
- Historical record verification.
Always verify AI-generated content before relying on it.
7. Warranty disclaimer
The App is provided “AS IS” without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the App is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages.
9. Account termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. We can terminate your account if you violate these terms, with or without notice. On termination, your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app before they take effect. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Italy. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Milan, Italy, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections applicable in your country of residence where those laws cannot be waived by contract.
